Thousands Of Residents Affected By Floods In Tanggamus Lampung

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that 5,008 flood-affected residents occurred in Tanggamus Regency, Lampung.

"Post-disaster data recorded 1,252 families or 5,008 people affected by the incident. 1,252 houses were affected, two of them were washed away, while 3 others were severely damaged," said Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 30.

The flood incident occurred on Thursday (29/6) at 04.00 WIB. There were no reports of casualties when the flood hit the area, said Abdul.

Abdul reported from information provided by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Tanggamus Regency, floods hit several villages in Sempuna District. A total of 10 villages were affected by inundation after high-intensity rain fell in the area.

Even though the area was affected by the flood with a water level of up to 80 cm, no residents were displaced. They survive in their respective homes.

As of 18.00 WIB, the condition of the water inundating people's houses has not decreased. Ten villages were flooded, namely Srikaton, Sukajaya, Kareapura, Sukaraja, Sidodadi, Bangunrejo, Sripurnomo, Pardawaras, Waykerap and Sedayu villages.

BPBD also reported material avalanches at several points such as stones, mud and wood. This condition causes road access to be closed. The process of cleaning the condition of the road on the west is still being worked on by the relevant agencies.

"In the agricultural sector, 149.45 hectares of land were flooded. In public facilities, BPBD noted that 1 unit of Bronjong was heavily damaged and the building was submerged in the form of 3 units of worship facilities and 2 education," said Abdul.

Facing flood hazards, BNPB urges local governments and residents to remain alert and alert.

If the flood height begins to increase, residents can evacuate independently or with the help of local officers. Prepare a disaster preparedness bag if you have to evacuate to a safe place.

Local governments can prepare temporary evacuation or evacuation sites in safe places. Basic services, such as public kitchens and health, can be activated to help residents affected by flooding.
