The Arrival Of The C-130J Super Hercules Air Force Aircraft In Indonesia, Increases Indonesia's Air Force

JAKARTA - The second C-130J Super Hercules aircraft of the Indonesian Air Force has arrived in the country. The arrival of the plane with a retail number A-1340 was immediately greeted by water salute and batik sampling activities to four crew members of the C-130J aircraft by Deputy Air Force Chief of Staff (Wakasau) Marsdya TNI A. Gustaf Brugman at Halim Perdana Kusuma Air Base, Jakarta, Wednesday, June 28.

The 2nd C-130J aircraft is planned to be handed over by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto to Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) Marshal TNI Fadjar Prasetyo in the next few days.

The arrival of this defense equipment system is a tangible manifestation of the efforts of Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto in carrying out President Joko Widodo's instructions so that the TNI is strengthened by the development of defense forces and the fulfillment of modern defense equipment, both land, sea and air dimensions.

The C-130J Super Hercules TNI AU aircraft that has been ordered by the government through the Ministry of Defense is 5 (five) units to strengthen the air dimension. Previously, the first aircraft had been received in March 2023. It is planned that the third aircraft will arrive in July 2023, followed by the fourth aircraft in October 2023 and the fifth aircraft in January 2024.

The five aircraft produced by Lockheed Martin in the United States will be stationed at Air Squadron 31 Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base Jakarta, to carry out the tasks of the Indonesian Air Force in supporting air transportation both for War Military Operation (OMP) and Military Operations Other than War (OMSP) missions.

The Super Hercules C-130J aircraft is 34.69 meters long, 11.9 meters high, and 39.7 meters wide. Meanwhile, the cargo compartment is 16.9 meters long, 3.12 meters wide, and 2.74 meters high. Super Hercules C-130J has the capability to carry a maximum load of up to nearly 20,000 kilograms.

In addition, C-130J can load 8 pallets or 97 stretchers, 128 combat troops, and 92 parachuting troops. The maximum speed of this aircraft is 660 kilometers per hour at an altitude of 6,706 meters and is powered by four Rolls-Royce AE 2100D turboprops that can generate 4,700 stances.

The Super Hercules C-130J also has an upgrade to its predecessor type, for example an upgrade to the fuel protection system, as well as a cargo handling system. There is also a more sophisticated flight station system improvement and a fully integrated digital avionic system. Super Hercules C-130J has also been refined with a head-up display, as well as advanced navigation that includes multiple inertial navigation systems and GPS.
