Provincial Government Ensures 12 Thousand Sacrificial Animals In West Papua Are LSD-Free

SORONG - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Southwest Papua ensures that 12 thousand sacrificial animals in the form of cows that will be distributed to six districts/cities in the area for the need for sacrificial worship in Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijriyah are in good health free of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD). Acting Veterinary Authority of Southwest Papua Province, drh. Firdiana Krisnaningsih explained that based on the total population of cattle in Southwest Papua Province, around 42 thousand cows, then those ready to be sacrificed at Eid al-Adha 1444 H ranging from 12 thousand tails, have been declared healthy. "We have gone down with the Veterinary Authority of Southwest Papua Province to districts/cities to see and check the health conditions of the sacrificial animals," said Firdiana, Friday, June 23. The result of the check, he said, all sacrificial animals in Southwest Papua was declared healthy and ready to be sacrificed at Eid al-Adha 1444 H which fell on June 29, 2023.

During the examination process, he said, it was focused on two diseases, namely the mouth and nails and a typesis layered disease in the form of specific skin diseases in cattle and goats. "Of the 38 provinces in Indonesia, five were declared free from these two diseases, one of which was Southwest Papua," he said.
