KPK Prosecutor Indicts Liem Sing Tiong To Bribe Former Bursel Regent Tagop Sudarsono Rp400 Million

AMBON - Sidang kasus dugaan korupsi dan pembelian terhadap eks Bupati Buru Selatan (Bursel) Tagop Sudarsono Suolisa dengan terdakwa Liem Sing Tiong alias Tiong digelar di Ambon hari ini, Selasa 20 Juni.

The agenda for the inaugural trial listened to the reading of the indictment of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) team of Public Prosecutors (JPU) coordinated by Taufiq Ibnugroho.

The defendant Tiong is a new suspect in the alleged bribery case against the former Regent of Bursel to obtain the Namrole City inner road construction project in 2015.

The KPK prosecutor said that Tiong and Ivana Kwelju were charged with committing or participating in giving Rp400 million to former Bursel Regent Tagop Sudarsono Suolisa. The money was given through Johny R. Kasman.

The money was given at Tagop's private house in Lektama Namrole Village, Bursel Regency, in the period January-December 2015

Ivana Kwelju and Johny R. Kasman are known to have been sentenced to prison.

"The goal is for Tagop to help the defendant and Ivana Kwelju in obtaining work packages at the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of South Buru Regency for the 2015 Fiscal Year," said the Public Prosecutor.

The KPK prosecutor explained that this was contrary to Tagop Sudarsono Soulisa's obligations as regulated in Article 5 number 4 and number 6 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 28 of 1999 concerning the Implementation of Clean and Free Countries from KKN.

For his actions, Tagop was threatened with criminal penalties in accordance with Article 13 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.

Responding to the KPK prosecutor's indictment, the defendant Liem Sing Chinese alias Chinese through his legal advisory team stated that they had not made an exception.

The chairman of the Corruption Court, Haris Tewa, accompanied by Member Judge Rahmat Selang and Antonius Sampe Samine, then decided to postpone the trial until next week with the agenda of examining witnesses.

Tagop diketahui adalah Bupati Bursel dua periode, yang menjabat dari 2011 hingga 2021.
