The Reason For The Visit Turned Out To Be Working Abroad, Singkawang Immigration Office Postpones 208 Passport Applications

KALBAR - The Immigration Office Class II TPI Singkawang recorded as many as 208 postponements and rejections of Indonesian passport applicants during the period January to December 2022.

"The postponement and rejection were carried out because the applicants had not completed the requirements," said Head of the Class II Immigration Office of TPI Singkawang, West Kalimantan, Azriyal Zam, Tuesday, June 6, quoted by Antara.

Azriyal explained that the applicants for Indonesian passports came to the Immigration office claiming to make passports for family visits or tours.

However, after being investigated by officers through an in-depth interview test, it turned out that they wanted to work abroad.

"In accordance with the Immigration function, namely services, law enforcement, state security and community welfare development facilitators, the postponement and rejection of as many as 208 passports are the efforts and commitments of the Singkawang Immigration Office in order to prevent non-procedural PMIs from working abroad and assisting the government in preventing the prevention of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO)," he said.

The Singkawang Immigration Office, he continued, in providing Indonesian Passports, has carried out in accordance with standard operating procedures set by the Directorate General of Immigration. Where each applicant registers through the M-Passport application.

In the 2022 period report, the Singkawang Immigration Office has issued 34,889 passports consisting of the issuance of 15,040 new passports, 18,442 replacement passports and 581 full page replacement passports.

"Then 54 replacement passports because they were damaged and 772 replacement passports because they were lost," he said.
