JAKARTA - Three Taikonauts who manned Shenzhou-15 and have completed a six-month space mission managed to land safely in the Gobi Desert area, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China.
The capsule carrying the three Shenzhou-15 crew landed on the Dongfeng runway on Sunday at around 06.37 local time (05.37 WIB).
The medical team confirmed that the three taikonauts, namely Fei Junlong, Deng Qingming, and Zhang Lu, were in good health after successfully carrying out a landing mission on earth.
Before returning to Earth, the Shenzhou-15 crew handed over the key to the China Space Station (CSS) to the Shenzhou-16 crew in orbit on Friday (2/6).
Shenzhou-15 is carrying out the final phase mission of the CSS construction consisting of three modules and three spacecraft weighing a total of almost 100 tons.
CSS began operating at the end of 2022 and entered a new phase of application and development during Shenzhou-15 on its mission.
Deputy Head of China's Space Program Landing System Designer, Bian Hancheng, said that the landing system relies on tracking search and rescue flares connected to capsules.
"This method is internationally very simple and reliable," he said as broadcast by the local broadcaster, quoting Antara, Sunday.
Furthermore, he installed a monitoring system on helicopters looking for the landing site of the capsule that could give instructions to the pilot.
"Then we use the lights, especially for operations at night so that our system is reliable, precise, and has high speed," he added.
