Workers At IKN Nusantara Will Vote At Special TPS

PENAJAM - The construction workers of the capital Nusantara, who come from outside Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan, will take part in voting in the 2024 General Election at a special polling station (voting station) provided at the project site.

"In the 2024 General Election, special TPS will be prepared for new state capital workers from outside the region," said Chairman of the North Penajam Paser Regency General Election Commission (KPU), Irwan Syahwana in Penajam as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, June 3.

The TPS at a special location provided by the North Penajam Paser Regency KPU is placed with a position at the construction project worker location for the new Indonesian capital city.

An agreement with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) not to interfere with the construction of the new capital city of Indonesia, the North Penajam Paser Regency KPU took over the technicalities for voting at the project site.

The KPU in the regions can involve workers in the KPPS (voting organizers) structure in accordance with KPU Regulation Number 7 of 2022, he explained, because it will stop work, the local community will be involved as KPPS.

There are 787 new Indonesian capital development workers named Nusantara who are still doing work until the time of voting or voting on February 14, 2024.

However, of the total construction workers of the new capital city of Indonesia, he said, only 395 workers have complete data entered the Sidalih application (voting data information system) who will vote on special polling stations.

It was also recorded that 59 RDMP development workers (Refinery Development Master Plan for the Lawe-Lawe Oil Refinery PT Pertamina (Persero) came from outside Penajam Paser Utara Regency and would vote in the 2024 General Election in the area nicknamed Benuo Takaitu.

"We registered the workers as voters at the polling station near the location of work, because the requirements for special polling stations are at least 100 voters," said Irwan Syahwana.

Construction project workers from outside North Penajam Paser Regency or East Kalimantan, can channel voting rights for the election of presidential and vice presidential candidates.

Workers of development projects for residents of East Kalimantan Province, but ID cards (residential cards) are not domiciled in North Penajam Paser Regency, can channel voting rights for the election of candidates for members of the DPR, DPD, as well as the president and vice president.

Meanwhile, residents of Paser Regency, because one electoral district with North Penajam Paser Regency, can also channel votes to candidates for members of the East Kalimantan DPRD.
