Firm! Badung Regent Says Foreigners Must Obey Regulations In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Regent of Badung, Bali, I Nyoman Giri Prasta emphasized that foreign nationals (WNA) and foreign tourists in their area must obey and comply with the regulations and laws in force in Indonesia.

"Regarding the phenomenon of the rise of foreigners who have been causing trouble in recent times. I emphasize that Badung and Bali are part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), so that anyone who comes from abroad is obliged to follow the rules that apply in Indonesia," said Regent Giri Prasta as quoted by Antara, Friday.

He said that his party must now enter the quality tourism order by establishing strong coordination with the immigration authorities to filter tourists visiting Bali.

"Those who want to go to Bali must be physically and mentally healthy. For example, if we go to South Korea or go to Japan, it's wrong to just get a fine, let alone throw the garbage wrong," he said.

For this reason, according to Regent Giri Prasta, all stakeholders are expected to always work together in carrying out joint movements to enforce regulations that do not only apply to local communities but also must apply to foreign guests.

As part of a country that has a legal basis, Badung Regency has always been obedient to implementing law enforcement which is a foothold to always obey applicable regulations.

"Therefore, the problem of foreigners is something that we must perfect together in the future," he said.

Regent Giri Prasta added that the Badung Regency Government together with the Badung Forkopimda ranks consisting of the Badung Police, Denpasar Police, Airport Area Police, Dandim 1611 and the Prosecutor's Office also have a team to carry out control movements and anticipate violations of the law committed by foreign guests.

"So to realize quality tourism while maintaining the sustainability of the tourism industry in Badung, we always routinely coordinate with the Forkopimda ranks," he concluded.

Previously, Bali Governor Wayan Koster had also issued a new circular regarding obligations and prohibitions for foreign tourists in Circular Letter Number 4 of 2023.

He said foreign tourists are obliged to glorify the defamation of temples and religious symbols and seriously respect customs, traditions, arts, and religious ceremonies.

Governor Koster also requires tourists who come to Bali to be accompanied by licensed tour guides, where he understands the attraction of tourism, natural conditions, customs, local wisdom.

"Wearing polite, reasonable, and appropriate clothing during visiting activities in Bali, both sacred areas, tourist attractions, public places, and polite behavior in sacred areas, tourist areas, restaurants, shopping areas, roads, and other public places," he said.
