Vice President: Minister Of Communication And Information Definitively Waits For Presidential Announcement

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said the definitive determination of the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) would be announced by President Joko Widodo.

"Regarding the definitive Minister of Communication and Information, just wait for the announcement from the President, the President will (announce)," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 26.

President Joko Widodo appointed Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD as Acting Officer, Authority, and Responsibility of the Minister of Communication and Information as stated in Presidential Decree Number 41/P of 2023 on 19 May 2023.

"The information is still in the hands of the President," added the Vice President.

The vice president did not explain the cabinet "resuftle" plan.

"Just wait, the'reshuffle' is the prerogative of the President," said the President.

In Keprres No. 41/P of 2023 it is stated that the appointment of Plt. The Minister of Communication and Information is to increase the effectiveness of performance, ensure the smooth running of tasks, and functions of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics until the appointment of the Minister of Communication and Information is definitive.

Through this decision, the president expressed his gratitude for the service of Johnny G. Plate during his tenure as Minister of Communication and Information.

President Joko Widodo appointed Johnny G Plate of the Minister of Communication and Information in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet in October 2019. The appointment was announced at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta.

A year before the end of his tenure, the AGO's Junior Prosecutor's Investigators for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) on Wednesday (17/5) named Johnny as a suspect in the corruption case of the BTS BAKTI procurement project, Ministry of Communication and Information for the 2020-2022 Period. The AGO announced that the state losses due to corruption reached Rp8.32 trillion.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD stated that he would monitor and oversee the case involving Johnny G. Plate as a suspect. He asked the public to wait for the legal and judicial process to run on the case
