Indonesia-Australia Hold Cassowary Exercises In NTT Waters

The arrival of the 23rd Australian Warship HMAS Launcenston III to take part in the Cassowary Exercise (Cassowary) at Lantamal VII Kupang. BETWEEN -Ho-Dispen Lantamal VII Kupang.

KUPANG - Indonesia and Australia held the 23rd Cassowary Exercise (Cassowary) in border waters between the two countries in order to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Commander (Wadan) Lantamal VII Kupang Marine Colonel Aris Budi said the exercise lasted for the next six days.

"The Australian Warship arrived last Thursday and a meeting was held to discuss the joint exercise which will take place from May 18-24," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 19.

Indonesia through the Indonesian Navy deployed two warships from the Koarmada III fast boat unit (Satkat), namely KRI Dorang 874 and KRI Bawal 875.

Meanwhile, Australia itself deployed the HMAS Launcenston III 94 Warship, which was commanded by the LC Andrian Hiks.

In a release received by ANTARA from the Kupang Lantamal VII Information Service, it was stated that the event which began on Thursday (18/5) was opened by the Commander of the Marine Colonel (P) Yudhoko Timuryanto and the Australian Defense Attache Colonel Griiffin.

The exercise focuses on the Minor War Vessel exercise which aims to strengthen bilateral relations, exchange experiences and knowledge in the military.

In addition, it is also to increase cooperation and interoperability in ensuring security in border waters between Indonesia and Australia as well as hone skills and increase training experience with the Navy of foreign countries in order to support the main tasks of the Indonesian Navy.

Aris said that Lantamal VII Kupang as the host this time is ready to support the implementation of Casoex-23 so that it runs safely and smoothly.
