UNJ Students Died During Menwa Training, UNJ: Late Alami Heat Stroke

JAKARTA - A student from the Jakarta State University (UNJ) died while attending a training on the recruitment of the Student Regiment (Menwa) at Pelabuhan Ratu, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, on Thursday, May 11.

The Head of Public Relations and Public Information of UNJ Heryanti Utami when confirmed by reporters in Jakarta, Saturday, confirmed that the 2022 class student had died.

He said the cause of the death of a student named Valencia Matalino Arya Putra was due to a hot attack (heat stroke) while participating in the activity.

Heat stroke is a disorder in the nervous system accompanied by an increase in body temperature reaching 40 degrees Celsius.

"The chronology of the incident was based on information from the UNJ Menwa committee and also the results of medical observations of the Ratu Port Hospital, the deceased had a heat stroke during the activity. There was an unexpected condition where the deceased had a heat stroke and hyponolemic shock (heart inability to supply enough blood to the body) according to a doctor's diagnosis," he explained.

According to him, the UNJ leadership has visited the funeral home of the deceased to express his condolences directly to the families of the students of the Geographical Study Program of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

"The UNJ leadership representatives have also visited the house of the deceased's parents to express their condolences, and were received directly by the deceased's family," he concluded, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 13.
