SPIN Survey: Prabowo Wins From Ganjar And Anies

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Survey and Polling Institute (SPIN) released the latest survey results showing that Prabowo Subianto outperformed Ganjar Pranowo and Anies Baswedan as presidential candidates in the 2024 General Election.

"33.2 percent of respondents are still consistently making their choice to Prabowo following Ganjar with 17.0 percent and Anies with 16.6 percent," said SPIN executive director Igor Dirgantara in an online presentation quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 8.

He explained that comparatively the survey results from time to time, the trend of public support for Prabowo Subianto was increasing. Meanwhile, two tough opponents, namely Ganjar and Anies, tend to weaken when viewed from previous period data.

"The trend of support for Prabowo continues to increase, while Ganjar and Anies experience relegation of support," he said.

In the December 2022 survey period, support for Prabowo Subianto was 21.8 percent, an increase in February 2023 by 33 percent and a slight increase in April 2023 by 33.2 percent.

Then Ganjar Pranowo in December 2022 was 20.1 percent, up 20.6 percent in February 2023, and down 17 percent in April 2023.

Furthermore, Anies Baswedan in December 2022 was 19.7 percent, up 20 percent in February 2023, and down 16.6 percent in April 2023.

Igor explained that the political analysis is related to the potential why Prabowo Subianto still dominates the polling ladder and tends to increase in every period of his survey.

First, he said, his performance as a minister and minimal imaging and received good appreciation from the community.

Global Firepower Index data states that Indonesia's military strength during the Prabowo Defense Minister was ranked 15th out of 140 countries in the world in 2022 and the strongest number one in ASEAN.

In addition to the performance base, the second is an endorsement given by President Joko Widodo. President Jobowo could see some of the most viscous endorsement moments. The SPIN survey was conducted on 27 April-4 May 2023 with a total number of respondents 1,230. The criteria for respondents are people aged 17 years and over or married.

The distribution of samples is spread across 34 provinces, with random digit dialing (RDD) sample techniques using simple random sampling at a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of approximately 2.8 percent. Data collection techniques are conducted by telephone / smartphone interviews. Quality control of 10 percent of the sample.
