Responding To JK Asking Jokowi To Example Megawati And SBY, PKB: Every President Has A Style

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PKB DPP Daniel Johan, responded to the statements of the 10th Vice President and 12 Jusuf Kalla (JK) who asked President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) not to interfere much in political affairs, especially related to the 2024 presidential election. JK suggested that Jokowi imitate the previous presidents, namely Megawati Soekarnoputri and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) who avoided involvement in politics towards the end of their term of office. Not agreeing with JK, Daniel assessed, every president has a different style. Most importantly, he said, Jokowi remains committed to ensuring democracy runs well. "Each president has a style, the important thing is that democracy must be ensured to continue to run well, as Pak Jokowi's commitments have been conveyed repeatedly," Daniel told reporters, Monday, May 8. According to the member of the DPR, the president has the right to talk about politics. In fact, said Daniel, the president's policy cannot be separated from the political process. "All government policies are political, they can take office from the political process, the important thing is to keep democracy running well," explained Daniel. Even so, Daniel assessed that JK's suggestions and input needed to be heard as a correction so that democracy would be even better in the future. "But the existing inputs such as those given by Mr. JK are also part of the dialectics to advance democracy," he said. Previously, former Vice President Jusuf Kalla asked President Jokowi to follow his predecessors, Megawati and SBY, who did not interfere much in political affairs near the end of their term of office. This is intended so that democracy in Indonesia can run well. "In my opinion, the President should be like Mrs. Mega, SBY, it will end so it doesn't get too far involved in liking or dislikes politics. JK admitted that he deeply regretted the attitude of the palace which did not invite the NasDem Party at the meeting of the chairman of the coalition party supporting the government at the Presidential Palace some time ago. According to JK, NasDem should have been invited because until now the party chaired by Surya Paloh is still a party supporting the government. Therefore, JK thought the meeting at the Palace was a political discussion. "When the meeting talks, because this is talking about development matters, what is it natural, but when it comes to development, Nasdem should be invited. That means there are political talks," said JK.
