Jambi City Government Agrees To Delay Increase In Water Tariffs For Perumda Tirta Mayang

Jambi City Government approved the postponement of the increase in water rates for household 1 customers by the Regional Public Company (Perumda) Tirta Mayang, Jambi City. President Director of Perumda Tirta Mayang Dwike Riantara said the tariff increase for household class 1 customers should apply April 1, 2023 based on Mayor Regulation Number 7 of 2023. However, there has been a policy of delaying the tariff increase taken after receiving the aspirations of the community and approved by the Mayor of Jambi as the capital owner of Perumda Tirta Mayang. "The Mayor approved the recommendation to postpone the increase in tariffs for household customers for 6 months in response to the aspirations of the people conveyed through student actions some time ago and the suggestions submitted by the Jambi City DPRD," he said in Jambi, Antara, Tuesday, May 2. The delay is carried out for six months until the end of September 2023. With this delay, the tariff that applies to household 1 customers is still Rp. 4,000 per cubic meter for use of 1 to 10 cubic meters, Rp. 4,500 for use of 11 to 20 cubic meters, and Rp. 5,500 for use above 20 cubic meters. "Thus, the tariff that is valid until the end of September 2023 for household customers 1 is still the same as the previous tariff," he said. The purpose of this delay is not to burden low-income people who are struggling to recover from the economic downturn due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dwike explained that customers who belong to household 1 are customers who live in simple homes, very simple houses, in the form of board houses or semi-permanent buildings, partner houses and the like, where there are no personal or government/TNI/Polri business activities, which according to the provisions are categorized as housing for Low-Income Communities (MBR).

Meanwhile, the increase in tariffs for households 2, commercial 1, commercial 2, and commercial 3 will still apply as of April 2023, which is billed in May 2023.
