Rafflesia Flower Found Again Mekar In Solok's Gaduangbeo Forest After Lebaran

JAKARTA - The Arnoldi Rafflesia flower blooms perfectly again in the Gaduangbeo Forest, Nagari Saniangbaka, X Koto Singkarak District, Solok Regency, West Sumatra, after Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri/Lebaran 2023.

The Coordinator of the Saniangbaka Belukar Association Muhammad Rizki in Singkarak, said that the corpse flower was found to bloom today in Gaduangbeo Forest, Nagari Saniangbaka, X Koto Singkarak District.

After being traced, he said, the blooming inflationary flower is the 3rd flower that has bloomed since Ramadan 1444 Hijri.

"During Ramadan, we did not carry out monitoring activities on the development of Bunga Refllesia," said Muhammad Rizki, Sunday, April 30.

His party will again actively monitor the development of the Rafflesia Flower after this Eid.

Rizki further said that the Gaduangbeo Forest ecosystem, which is located in the Bukit Barisan Wildlife Sanctuary, is still well maintained.

He said that when it was totaled throughout January 2023 to April, many Rafflesia flowers had fully bloomed in the Gaduangbeo Forest.

Meanwhile, last year, the bush association noted that 24 Rafflesia Flowers managed to fully bloom in the Nagari Saniangbaka Forest.

The distribution of Rafflesia flowers is located at three different points which are still included in the Bukit Barisan wildlife asylum area.

"The existence of these two newly bloomed Rafflesia Flowers is still in the Gaduangbeo Forest area," he said.

The rare flower was discovered since October 2021. Then research began on the spread of Raflesia's host (akar Liana/tetrastigma) in the Nagari Saniangbaba Forest area.

"After posting the distribution, we will continue in which root areas are infected with the endoparasitic spread of Raflesia," he said.

So far, his party has carried out conservation and observation of these rare flowers and hopes that after the discovery of the Raflestia Flower, the Tangaya Pokdarwis Team will make it an asset for regional ecotourism by making a cruise package (tracking) to enjoy nature without destroying it.

"In addition, whatever the form of support from any party, including Pokdarwis, as long as it supports our activities in conservation, we are always open to accepting," he said.
