Will PPP And PDI Perjuangan's History Be Repeated?

JAKARTA - In the PPP Rapimnas in Yogyakarta, Wednesday, April 26, the United Development Party DPP officially announced Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate or presidential candidate who will compete in the upcoming 2024 election contestation.

Chairman of the DPP United Development Party (PPP) Achmad Baidowi emphasized that there is a historical romanticism between PPP and PDI Perjuangan in a coalition to nominate a vice presidential candidate.

"The historical romance between PPP and PDI Perjuangan, such as when Megawati Soekarnoputri and Hamzah Haz," he said in an online discussion followed in Jakarta, Saturday.

He explained that the presence of PPP in the government coalition was an effort to complement and fight for the aspirations of Muslims.

"Ready later who will entrust their aspirations to the PDI-P if they are in power in the government," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 29.

Baidowi gave an example that currently the policies regarding Muslims are entrusted through Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, the Ministry of Religion and members of the DPR in Parliament.

One example, he said, was related to the education endowment fund for Islamic boarding schools, as an implementation of Law Number 18 of 2019 concerning Islamic Boarding Schools. This effort gave birth to Presidential Regulation Number 82 of 2021.

Previously, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that in terms of historical aspects, the relationship between PPP and PDI Perjuangan had similarities in the past, which was an oppressed party by the New Order.

In addition, Megawati Soekarnoputri and Hamzah Haz also have a very close relationship, especially since they were together in the government.

"At that time, Pak Hamzah became vice president. Mrs. Megawati also had a good friendship with charismatic clerics and senior PPP figures, KH Maimun Zubair or was familiarly called Mbah Moen during her lifetime," explained Hasto.
