Ministry Of Health Allows Indovac To Become A Primary Vaccine Booster To Replace Pfizer, Which Is Now Empty

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health added one new COVID-19 vaccination regime for the third and fourth follow-up doses or boosters. This is stated in the SE Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health Maxi Rein Rondonuwu Number IM.02.04/C/2034/2023.

In the SE, now the Indovac vaccine is allowed to become a primary vaccine booster (dose 1 and 2) type Pfizer. It is known, currently Pfizer's vaccine stock is empty.

"The approval of changes to the drug INDOVAC regarding the addition of heterologous Booster posology for subjects 18 years and over who received the primary Pfizer vaccine issued by BPOM on April 21, 2023," Maxi wrote in SE, quoted on Thursday, April 27.

Meanwhile, the procedures for giving, implementing places, implementation flow and recording of COVID-19 vaccinations still refer to Circular Number HK.02.02/II/252/2022 regarding Advanced Dose of COVID-19 Vaccination (Booster).

So far, the government has determined that the administration of further doses of vaccine (booster) is carried out through two mechanisms, namely homologous and heterologous.

Homologous is the provision of further doses using the same type of vaccine as the complete primary dose vaccine that was previously obtained. Meanwhile, heterologous is an advanced dose using a different type of vaccine from the complete primary vaccine that was previously obtained.

The vaccine used for boosters is adjusted to the availability of vaccines for each region by prioritizing vaccines that have a nearby ED period.

The following is a list of booster vaccine regimens that can be given:

1. Sinovac primary vaccine can use a booster:- AstraZeneca half dose (half dose) or 0.25 ml- Pfizer half dose (half dose) or 0.15 ml- Moderna full dose (full dose) or 0.5 ml- Sinopharm full dose (full dose) or 0.5 ml- Sinovac full dose (full dose) or 0.5 ml- Zifivax full dose (full dose) or 0.5 ml- Indovac full dose (full dose) or 0.5 ml- full dose (full dose) or 0.5 ml- Indovac full dose) or 0.5 ml- full dose (full dose) or 0.5 ml

2. The AstraZeneca primary vaccine can use a booster:- Half dose of Moderna (half dose) or 0.25 ml- Pfizer half dose (half dose) or 0.15 ml- AstraZeneca full dose or 0.5 ml-Indovac full dose (full dose) or 0.5 ml

3. Pfizer primary vaccine can use a booster:- Full dose (full dose) or 0.3 ml- Moderna half dose (half dose) or 0.25 ml- AstraZeneca full dose or 0.5 ml-Indovac full dose (full dose) or 0.5 ml

4. Moderna primary vaccine can use a booster: - Moderna half dose (half dose) or 0.25 ml- Pfizer half dose (half dose) or 0.15 ml

5. The primary Janssen (J&J) vaccine can use a booster:- Janssen (J&J) full dose (full dose) or 0.5 ml- Pfizer full dose (full dose) or 0.3 ml- Moderna half dose (half dose) or 0.25 ml

6. The primary Sinopharm vaccine can use a booster:- Full dose (full dose) or 0.5 ml- Zifivax full dose or 0.5 ml

7. Covovax primary vaccines can use a booster:- Covovax full dose ((full dose) or 0.5 ml
