Hunting For Lailatul Qadar Millions Of Crowded Congregants Of The Grand Mosque And Prophet's Mosque On The 27th Night Of Ramadan

JAKARTA - Millions of worshipers filled the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, Saudi Arabia on the 27th night of Ramadan 1444 Hijri which falls on Monday evening local time, to hunt Lailatul Qadar, a blessed night in the Islamic calendar.

Saudi Arabian authorities have arranged the entry of the congregation to the two holy mosques during Ramadan, one of the busiest times of the year.

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque said, "there are 4,000 workers on duty at the Grand Mosque, Mecca, including 70 field teams tasked with registering mosques around the clock," reported Arab News April 18.

The President of General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques Dr. Abdurrahman As-Sudais leads a special prayer as a closing, after previously the congregation performed Tarawih Prayers and night prayers, as quoted by The National News.

Previously, a new initiative was launched at the Grand Mosque to increase comfort for the elderly and people with disabilities.

This project is part of the "Service of Congregation is an Honor" campaign aimed at ensuring that pilgrims get the best service from arrival to their return.

It is known, Lailatul Qadar is one of the odd nights in the last 10 days of the month of Ramadan, described in the Qur'an as a night "better than a thousand months", so humans are advised to increase their worship that night. No one knows for sure when that night would come, but the Prophet Muhammad said it fell on the odd night night of the last night in the month of Ramadan.
