Mataram Beware Of Chikungunya, During March The Health Office Finds 34 Cases

The Mataram City Health Office, West Nusa Tenggara Province, appealed to residents to be aware of their chikungu disease due to viral infections transmitted by the Aedes Albopictus mosquito.

Head of the Mataram City Health Office (Dinkes), Dr. H Usman Hadi, said that his current chikungu disease needs to be watched out for because the findings of cases earlier this year were relatively high.

"According to weekly cases of chikungun infection in March 2023, there was a spike in cases in the 11th week of 34 cases. In the previous week there were only 12 cases, 11 cases, and there were even only 4 cases," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 13.

Usman said the symptoms of chikungu are similar to dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), namely, hot body, fever, dizziness, pain in joints, and decreased platelets but not as low as dengue fever.

Related to that, he continued, to prevent chikungunya and dengue fever, people are advised to be vigilant and care about environmental cleanliness by intensifying the movement to eradicate mosquito nests (PSN).

"Both chikungunya and dengue fever, prevention is the same, namely environmental cleanliness," he said.

Usman further said that apart from chikungunya and dengue, various diseases that need to be watched out for at this time are Ispa (acute respiratory infection) diseases that attack respiratory tracts, both upper and lower channels.

This condition can occur in several respiratory organs such as sine, phary, runny nose to nose.

"This Ispa disease was triggered by changes in the weather in the transition season due to the increasing circulation of the virus in the air," he said.

It is said that Ispa is the most prone disease to occur during weather changes, people must anticipate as early as possible. One form of anticipation that must be taken is adequate rest and reducing mobility.

"Therefore, we hope that the community can reduce mobility and get enough rest, and immediately check themselves in the nearest health facility when there are symptoms of Ispa so that they can get maximum treatment early," he said.
