KPU Continues To Carry Out Bawaslu's Decision On The Prima Party After Appeals Are Granted

The General Election Commission (KPU) continues to carry out the Bawaslu decision regarding the administrative verification order for the improvement of the Prima Party after the KPU's appeal against the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court was granted by the DKI Jakarta High Court. "Against the Decision of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) Case Number 01/2023 or the Prima Party case is still being carried out and continued by the KPU because it is the KPU's obligation to implement the Bawaslu decision," KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari told reporters in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, April 11. Previously, during a trial in Jakarta, Tuesday, the DKI Jakarta High Court granted an appeal from the KPU on the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court, one of which ordered the KPU to stop the implementation of the 2024 General Election stage and start from scratch. "The trial accepted the appeal against the comparison/defendant," said Chief Judge Sugeng Riyono. With the granting of the appeal request, PT DKI Jakarta also stated that it canceled the Central Jakarta District Court Decision Number 757/Pdt.G/2022/PN Jkt.Pst. dated March 2, 2023, which was appealed by the KPU. Next, PT DKI Jakarta granted the KPU's exception by stating that the Central Jakarta District Court was not competent to try the case filed by the Prima Party. The decision of the Central Jakarta District Court in question was read out during the trial in Jakarta, Thursday, March 2, 2023. At that time, the panel of judges at the Central Jakarta District Court granted the Prima Party's lawsuit against the KPU not to carry out the remaining stages of the 2024 General Election and carry out the election stages from the beginning for approximately 2 years 4 months 7 days. After his lawsuit was granted by the Central Jakarta District Court, the Prima Party then reported the KPU to Bawaslu for alleged violations of election administration which caused Prima not to pass the administrative verification stage of political parties candidates participating in the 2024 General Election. The Prima Party has made the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court as one of the evidences showing the violations committed by the KPU.
