Ahead Of The Homecoming Season, Only 20 Percent Of Buses In Jakarta Are Roadworthy

Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that his party carried out a ramp check as an inspection of road transportation safety for 1,474 buses out of a total of 2,258 buses residing in Jakarta or around 65 percent until the Eid season. As a result, currently there are only 20 percent of Eid transport buses that pass the KIR test and are roadworthy. This is known from the inspection of intercity interprovincial (AKAP) KIR bus test services at a number of terminals. "The data available, as many as 1,474 buses out of 2,258 buses whose home bases in Jakarta, who passed the ramp check were only 20 percent, 80 percent did not pass," Syafrin told reporters, Monday, April 10. Syafrin said that the cause of the bus not passing the ramp check at most was the absence of wipers, the problem with the electricity system of bus lights, and the hairy tires. The problems that occurred in the buses that did not pass the KIR test were immediately corrected by the owner or operator. After being repaired, the bus will again undergo a ramp check to meet the requirements as a transportation for Eid this year. "The solution is that we place the equipment in the terminal. The bus that has ramp checked and has not passed the test is directly here. There is no need to go to the office (test site for KIR), because the place is limited," explained Syafrin. Syafrin targets all buses that will be dispatched from Jakarta to be tested for KIR and roadworthy ahead of this year's Eid homecoming season. "We are coordinating with the bus PO so that when the Eid transportation period opens on April 14, all buses will run smoothly," he continued. Furthermore, Syafrin said that the KIR test pads for Lebaran transport buses were carried out to ensure that vehicles that would transport travelers met the safety elements of traffic and road transportation. "If the validity period of the KIR test runs out, the vehicle owner will be directed by officers to take care of the extension of the KIR Test through the Mobile KIR Test Service at the location of the departure terminal," he said. Terminals serving mobile KIR tests are Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Pulogebang Integrated Terminal, Tanjung Priok Terminal, Kalideres Terminal, Lebak Bulus Terminal, and all terminals that will serve free homecoming in 2023 using tourism bus assistance from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Syafrin said that in the periodic mobile test, 9 test component systems would be examined with mobile equipment support that had been integrated with the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia computerized. With this system, vehicle owners can receive test results in the form of Evidence of Passing Electronic Tests (Smartcard) at the test site directly.

"This ramp check is carried out by DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency officers to ensure that the technical and road-worthy requirements are tested in accordance with applicable regulations such as Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation," added Syafrin.
