JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin reiterated to all parties not to engage in money politics and campaign in places of worship.

"Yes, I think first, of course, there can't be money politics, there are already rules. There are rules for not being able to campaign in places of worship," said the Vice President in a press statement on the sidelines of a working visit to Central Java, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 4.

This was conveyed by the Vice President in response to journalists' questions about the presence of several politicians distributing money and basic necessities during the month of Ramadan, one of which was at the mosque.

The Vice President said that the distribution of the money and basic necessities needed to be verified by an authorized institution, in this case, the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu).

"Regarding the various cases that have occurred, we may ask the Bawaslu to verify whether it was something that was banned or not, later the authority will be the Bawaslu's territory," he said.

He said the electoral rules clearly stipulate violations that may not be committed.

“Surely the rules already exist, whether they live according to or not, or if he breaks the rules or not. I think we'll wait for Bawaslu to give an explanation," he said.
