"We do this to ensure that the food and drinks in circulation are suitable for consumption, especially ahead of Eid," he said, Tuesday, April 4.

Apart from the expiration date, continued Felix, the team checks the distribution permit for each product being traded.

"The results are still found that have expired or have passed their validity period. The results can be confirmed by BPOM, usually if there are findings of expired goods. The owner will be given guidance by officers," he said.

Products that are entering their expiration date will be returned or withdrawn by the distributor. Emphasized, consuming expired food is very dangerous for health.

"Consumers must be more careful before buying them, shop owners also don't sell expired products," he explained.

Meanwhile, Pharmacy and Food Supervisor for Tarakan BPOM Young Expert, Rosa Yuvita revealed, the team also found product packaging that was damaged and was still being traded.

"We are still checking in the field, so we can't confirm the number of products because we haven't recapitulated the overall findings," said Rosa.

With these findings, BPOM Tarakan will provide guidance and education to shop owners regarding checking distribution permits.

"For now there is no confiscation. This is because the product can be returned or returned. If we can't return it, we will confiscate it," he concluded.
