JAKARTA - The case of a fatal accident that killed Syamil and involved Maulana Malik Ibrahim, the son of an officer from the West Nusa Tenggara Police and Ira Riswana has been upgraded to the investigation stage. Police believe there is a criminal element behind the accident.

"It should be suspected that there was an accident regarding the violation where the criminal act was the law on traffic, of course," said Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police Kombes Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko to reporters, Tuesday, April 4.

The criminal offense referred to by Trunoyudo was not explained in relation to the Road Traffic and Transportation Law (LLAJ)

"Here is just the process of having a criminal act later to the investigation," he said.

Trunoyudo said the investigation team would carry out investigative steps to determine the suspect.

"The investigation process will later take statements from witnesses so that the construction of this case in the BAP process with other evidence will be analyzed and then it should be suspected, later there will be seen," said Trunoyudo.

The police decided to elevate the legal status of the accident case that killed Syamil to the investigation stage based on the title of the case.

Syamsil became the victim of an accident that started when he was traveling with his friend, Bayu, from Cilandak to his house in the Pasar Minggu area, South Jakarta, on Sunday, March 12, early morning.

Suddenly, a Mercy rider, known to have the initials MMI from the direction of Mampang, crashed into the motorbike Syamsil and Bayu were on, at Masjid Almakmur Street No 99, East Pejaten, Pasar Minggu.

As a result of the accident, Bayu lost consciousness and is currently undergoing treatment at the Pasar Minggu Hospital. While Syamsil died at the scene of the case (TKP).
