Airlangga Ensures The KIB Coalition Is Still Solid

JAKARTA - The General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, said that the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) consisting of three political parties, namely the Golkar Party (Golkar), the National Mandate Party (PAN), and the United Development Party (PPP) were still solid.

This was conveyed by Airlangga after a closed meeting with President Joko Widodo or Jokowi with the general chairmen of the government coalition political parties (parpol) apart from PDIP and Nasdem, at the Ramadan 1444 H Gathering held by the National Mandate Party (PAN) at the PAN Office, Jakarta, Sunday 2 April.

"This is KIB, yes. There are Mr. Zulhas, Mr. Mardiono, and Golkar, it shows that KIB is solid and this is part of the KIB gathering and also invites government parties, this is an initiative from Mr. Zulhas," said Airlangga in his statement.

It is known that the closed meeting which lasted about an hour, Jokowi together with the General Chair of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto; Chairman of PKB, Muhaimin Iskandar; Chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto; Acting Chairman of PPP, Mardiono; and Chairman of PAN, Zulkifli Hasan.

However, PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri and Nasdem Party Chair Surya Paloh were unable to attend this closed meeting because they were abroad.

Airlangga also said that the meeting discussed the sustainability of development. That way, a large coalition like KIB is very important because Indonesia is a big country.

"The challenges ahead are also varied, whether it's climate change, geopolitic Indo-Pacific, then also politicization of identity still exists," he said.

Therefore, said Airlangga, all parties must unite, even though Indonesia is still rotating on a middle-income trap like other ASEAN countries besides Singapore.

"Timing-nya, tadi Bapak Presiden menyatakan maksimal sampai 2038. Jadi kalau 10 tahun ini tidak selesai, ini kita berputar-putar di sini saja," ucapnya.

For this reason, Airlangga continued, Indonesia needs togetherness in the form of a coalition with the same ideology.

"We are all in the government, both Mr. Prabowo, Mr. Zulkifli Hasan, Mr. Mardiono, Cak Imin, the DPR is also in the government's carriages. Therefore, this carriage is ready to continue the program more quickly," he said.
