President Jokowi Discusses With Shin Tae-yong, The Topic Is Physical And The Skills Of National Team Players

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) took the time to discuss with the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, Saturday, April 1.

This discussion took place before President Jokowi's meeting with U-20 Indonesian national team players. On this occasion, the number one person in Indonesia had a dialogue regarding the abilities and physicalities of young Indonesian players as well as the next coaching stages.

"Coach Shin Tae Yong said that there are still weak points that need to be improved, especially on the physical side and a little on the skill side," said Jokowi.

Although there are still weaknesses, said Jokowi, there have been very basic improvements regarding the football capabilities of the players. Shin even said that the players were ready to compete in the U-20 World Cup.

"There is a very basic improvement on the skill side so that their preparation for entering a competition, coach Shin said he was very ready," he said.

After discussing with Shin, Jokowi then met the U-20 national team players. Jokowi motivated the players not to be discouraged even though they canceled competing in the U-20 World Cup.

Jokowi emphasized to the players that the opportunity to pursue a career and a long future. In the field of sports, said Jokowi, there are still various championships such as the SEA Games, Asian Games, the AFF Cup, or the Olympics.

"So that they don't get lost in disappointment and sadness and I said earlier that in the future we want to have a team that has been built from the start continuously, prolonged, so that we can get a national team that is really ready," he said.
