The Student Learning Activity Team (BKP) of the Faculty of Psychology, Makassar State University (UNM) used the Koran to provide therapy to Correctional Inmates (WBP) at the Makassar Class I Detention Center (Rutan), South Sulawesi.

"The target of this work program is for inmates who experience anxiety in the detention center. This anxiety can affect adaptation to the social environment when they are free," said UNM Psychology Student Fathinah Mardhatillah, at Nurul Iman Mosque, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, March 25.

This activity, he added, was a work program implemented to reduce the level of anxiety of the inmates during the legal process at the Makassar Detention Center, especially in the month of Ramadan.

The same thing was conveyed by the Legal Aid and Counseling (BHP) staff of the Makassar Detention Center, Fetty Fatimah. In the therapy activity, it begins with pre-testing participants who aim to measure changes in the level of anxiety of each participant in Al-Quran therapy.

"Before the activity, participants were given a questionnaire containing several questions about the psychology of each participant. After that, therapy was carried out in the form of 'one day one juz' or reading and listening to the Koran one juz every day," he said.

And after two weeks of participating in this activity, said Fetty, there was a similar post-test questionnaire given to the same person to see how much the scale of the changes to the anxiety levels of each participant.

Separately, the Head of Legal Aid and Counseling Subsection, Muhammad Ramadlon Afwan, hopes that these activities can be carried out properly and can provide psychological benefits to each participant.

"This activity is very positive for the inmates, because the aim is to reduce problems that disturb peace of mind through a spiritual approach," he said.

He hopes that the activity will run smoothly and in the end the participants can control their thoughts so that they don't drag on in their anxiety.

The head of the Makassar Class I Rutan, Moch Muhidin, appreciated the activity considering that the moment coincided with the holy month of Ramadan. He hopes that the inmates can get closer to the creator and realize their mistakes by reading the Koran a lot.

"A very good program. God willing, with this therapy the inmates can solve their anxiety, become fond of studying and get closer to Allah SWT until they become good individuals," he added.
