Burning Self He Said For Love

JAKARTA - Love can change a person's mindset, even get out of the way of reason. Anything can be done, even hurts the body itself.

That's what happened to Hendra Ferdian (31). The security guard tried to burn himself to prove his love for his wife, Sarly Amalia.

This story originated from Sarly's intention to divorce Hendra, two months ago. Hendra refused to be dumped on the grounds that he was still affectionate. Even though he separated the bed, he didn't want Sarly to leave his grasp.

"Because the husband (Hendra) does not want to divorce, he wants to prove that he loves his wife and children," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Cipayung Iptu Police, Budi Setyanta when confirmed, Monday, November 18.

Sarly intends to divorce Hendra because of economic problems. She went home to her parents and brought her child. Sarly's family forbids Hendra to come, even though he meets his son.

"According to him (Hendra) it was because of the economy, because his wife and family were too luxurious," he said.

Hendra is distracted. At the end of the confusion, he poured gasoline over his body, Monday 18 November morning. He lit a match on his body. Although a number of people prevented him, the fire already burned his body.

Hendra's entire body suffered serious burns. Now, he is undergoing treatment at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for his recovery.

"Many wounds, on the hands, all over his body his name is 50 percent, his face too, because gasoline was poured on his body," said Budi.
