SURABAYA - The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, appealed to the regional head candidates who won the 2020 Pilkada Serentak not to celebrate a victory party or excessive euphoria. The goal is to avoid turmoil between supporters and volunteers of each regional head candidate pair.

"We urge anyone who feels that he has won not to be overly euphoric. Later it usually involves RT and RW," said Khofifah, accompanied by his son, after voting for the Surabaya regional election at TPS 25 Jemur Wonosari Subdistrict, Wonocolo District, Surabaya City, Wednesday, December 9.

Khofifah said he was worried that the euphoria of victory could cause friction and crowds. So he is worried about creating a new cluster for the spread of COVID-19. "So if possible, whoever wins will celebrate with an ordinary expression," he said.

Therefore, Khofifah hopes that the simultaneous regional election voting process in East Java will implement a strict health protocol. He also reminded the public and officers in the field to pay attention to 3M, namely wearing masks, washing hands and maintaining distance.

"Don't let the health protocol loose. Remember the spread of COVID-19 has not stopped," he explained.

Khofifah voted at TPS 25 Jemur Wonosari Subdistrict, Wonocolo District, Surabaya City, which is located right next to her residence on Jalan Jemursari VIII Surabaya. When voting, Khofifah was accompanied by Ali Managalli, her youngest son.

Simultaneous regional elections in East Java were held in 19 regions, namely Pacitan, Ponorogo, Ngawi, Trenggalek, Kediri, Lamongan, Tuban, Gresik, Mojokerto, Malang, Blitar, Sidoarjo, Sumenep, Jember, Situbondo and Banyuwangi districts, then Blitar City. , Pasuruan, and the City of Surabaya.
