Polda Metro Jaya Sends Troops To Secure Pilkada Tangsel And Depok

JAKARTA - A total of 4,300 joint TNI-Polri personnel were deployed to secure the 2020 regional elections (Pilkada) in two points of the Jakarta Police's jurisdiction, namely South Tangerang (Tangsel) and Depok, West Java.

"The strength that we have deployed is around 4,300 personnel," said Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus to reporters, Wednesday, December 9.

The large number of personnel deployed for security is because the regional elections are the main focus at this time. The security scheme was implemented from voting to counting the votes.

"From last night the officers have been with a team of 4,300. There are about 1,500 that we are on standby to prepare for security until the final counting stage," said Yusri.

In addition, the personnel deployed will also take action against parties who do not implement health protocols. So, in the Pilkada event, the spread of COVID-19 will not occur.

"The latest report is that conditions in all polling stations, both in Depok and Tangsel, are still going according to plan and are safely under control," said Yusri.
