JAKARTA - The police have uncovered a case of forgery of marriage certificates with the motive of fighting over inheritance. In this case, three people with the initials MHH, ABB, and J alias F, were named suspects.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said that the case began when J, who is a health therapist, was entrusted with a land certificate worth Rp40 billion by his patient named Basri Sudibyo.
However, not long after, Basri passed away due to his illness. Then, the family also took care of the assets left behind.
The family who knew that Basri had left the land certificate to J then asked the woman to return it. It's just that, the rejection is obtained.
"Suspect J refuses to return the letter addressed by the deceased to his family," said Yusri in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 28.
Then, suspect J's intention emerged to control the land in the South Jakarta area. Until finally, J communicated with ABB regarding the problem.
The discussion to find a solution occurs between the two. Until the idea emerged to engineer J's marriage with Basri. Then, ABB introduced J to MHH. The male figure is said to be a priest who can make fake marriage certificates.
"There was an attempt to fabricate an authentic marriage certificate between one of the suspects with the initials J and the late Basri Sudibyo," said Yusri.
Right in April 2019, the MHH suspect completed the making of the fake marriage certificate. Then, using fake documents, J took on Basri's son at the North Jakarta District Court to seize the inheritance.
However, Basri Sudibyo's son, who was suspicious because his biological father had never married J, reported it to the police. "The deceased never had a legal marriage with J. Because the deceased was married to the reporting mother, namely Gracia," said Yusri.
From the police report, an investigation was immediately carried out. Finally, in December 2019, the three suspects were arrested at different locations.
Thank you money
Separately, Kasubdit Harda of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP M. Gofur, added that in this case, no price was set for the fake marriage certificate. This is because suspect J only gave some money as a token of gratitude.
"Not too big. Not transactional, huh. Maybe treat you to a meal, like that. But that doesn't mean (MHH) can take care of the certificate issuance. It's not like that," said Gofur.
However, when asked further about the relationship between Basri and suspect J, the police said they could not confirm this. Because, there has been no acknowledgment from the suspect regarding the relationship between the two.
"This is our problem because the person concerned (Basri) has died and suspect J's admission is still limited to the relationship between patient and health therapist," said Gofur.
The investigators charged him with Article 263 of the Criminal Code, Article 264, Article 266, and Article 262 of the Criminal Code, with the threat of a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison.
