JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito regretted the decline in the trend of community compliance with the implementation of health protocols.

"It is very unfortunate that the trend continues to show a decline regarding individual compliance in wearing masks, as well as maintaining distance and avoiding crowds," Wiku said in a YouTube broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat, Thursday, December 3.

According to Wiku, the downgrading of the 3M protocol occurred during a long holiday period from October 28 to November 1. The downward trend was observed to continue on 27 November.

On November 27, the percentage of compliance with wearing masks was 58.32 percent, keeping the percentage distance at 43.46 percent.

"From these data, it can be concluded that the long vacation is the main trigger for the decline in compliance with the health protocol discipline," said Wiku.

Then, from the zoning map for compliance with wearing masks and maintaining a distance, from the data from 512 districts / cities that entered, only less than 9 percent of districts / cities obeyed in wearing masks. In fact, less than 4 percent of districts / cities are obedient in maintaining their distance.

In fact, said Wiku, to reduce the number of positive cases and deaths, at least 75 percent of the population must obey wearing masks. This lack of disciplined health protocol has resulted in a spike in COVID-19 cases.

"Unfortunately, the addition of daily positive cases continues to increase, even per day through more than 8000 cases. This is a very large number," he said.

The addition of this large number of cases must be considered because it indicates that the rate of transmission of COVID-19 is still increasing. Therefore, Wiku appealed to the public to improve the discipline of health protocols.

"Ask the public to be aware immediately, the small steps to wash their hands regularly, wear the correct masks, even the small efforts to try to keep their distance from each other have an impact on the lives of many human beings," said Wiku.
