PPATK Called Buying BMW X-5 Car Not Reported, Prosecutor Pinangki: Not Logical

JAKARTA - The defendant Prosecutor Pinangki Sirna Malasari denied the witness's statement regarding the purchase of a BMW X-5 car was not reported to the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK). This is because the purchase of a car has actually been recorded in a system manner.

"It must have been reported to the PPATK," said Pinangki at the trial at the Corruption Court, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, December 2.

In front of the panel of judges, Pinangki also said that some of his cars were also purchased in cash. In fact, the cars have been registered with the PPATK.

"So far, the four cars I bought for my previous car were cash, and all of them have been reported by the PPATK system. So no salesperson offered PPATK, no yes, nothing," said Pinangki.

Then, Pinangki also mentioned the witness's testimony who said that he bought a car after winning the case. According to him, it could not be conveyed to just anyone.

"It is illogical for me to say that (to win the case) to a salesperson, I just met you," he said.

Previously, PT Astra Sales Center Yeni Pratiwi, who was a witness in the trial, said Pinangki did not report the purchase of the BMW X-5 to the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).

This is known because Yeni had offered Pinangki to fill out the reporting form. However, Pinangki refused the offer.

"The defendant objected (filling in the PPATK reporting form). I only asked, 'Is there a PPATK form, do you want it to be filled in or not?' 'Not.' "Oh, it's okay," he said.

In this case, prosecutor Pinangki was charged with three counts, namely the first charge of receiving a bribe of US $ 500,000 (around Rp7.4 billion) from the convicted Bank Bali cessie case Djoko Soegiarto Tjandra.

Second, the money laundering charges originating from the receipt of bribes amounting to 444,900 dollars or around Rp. 6,219,380,900.00 as money given by Djoko Tjandra for processing fatwas to the Supreme Court.

Third, Pinangki was charged with committing an evil conspiracy with Andi Irfan Jaya and Djoko Tjandra to bribe officials at the AGO and MA worth US $ 10 million.
