Mahfud Appreciates TNI Regarding The Action Of 8 Soldiers In Burning Intan Jaya Public Health Center

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD appreciates the assertiveness of the Indonesian Army which has named eight soldiers as suspects in the burning of the health service house in Intan Jaya, Papua.

"Regarding the case of violence in Intan Jaya, Papua yesterday, Alhamdulillah I met with the Commander and the Army Chief of Staff who confirmed that an action had been taken," Mahfud said in his written statement, Friday, November 13.

The eight soldiers, he continued, based on reports from the TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Andika Perkasa are now ready to be submitted to court. On this basis, Mahfud then appreciated the TNI's quick steps for following up on the findings of the Joint Fact Finding Team (TGPF) formed by the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs and the Komnas HAM team.

Meanwhile, for other parties outside the TNI, such as the Free Papua Organization or what is often referred to as the armed criminal group (KKB), Mahfud said he would immediately take action to bring them to justice in stages. This was done after the findings of TGPF Kemenko Polhukam and TGPF Komnas HAM were compared.

"The point is that the law must be enforced," he said.

Furthermore, the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) also expressed his appreciation for Komnas HAM which also formed a similar team whose findings matched the results of the TGPF formed by Komnas HAM.

"Appreciation also goes to Komnas HAM friends who have conducted their own investigations, and found most of the same things," he said.

Finally, Mahfud asked all parties to maintain security in Papua. "Whatever the end of political differences, in the end it must still be NKRI, from Sabang to Merauke which includes Papua, it cannot be separated from NKRI," he said.

Previously, the Indonesian Army Military Police Center (Puspomad) named eight unscrupulous soldiers of the Indonesian Army as suspects in the burning of the Health Service House in Hitadipa District, Intan Jaya, Papua on Saturday, 19 October.

"Based on the results of the examination of witnesses and evidence, the investigators concluded and named 8 suspects," said Puspomad Commander Lt. Gen. Dodik Wijanarko in a press conference at Puspomad Headquarters, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Thursday, November 12.

The eight suspects were Captain Inf SA, Letda Inf KT, Serda MFA, Serda S, Serda ISF, Kopda DP, Pratu MI, and Prada MH. The suspects were suspected of violating Article 187 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code and Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

Determination of the suspect was based on the results of the investigation and investigation by a joint team consisting of Puspomad, the Army Intelligence Unit (Sintelad), the Army Intelligence Center (Pusintelad) and the Indonesian Army Legal Directorate (Ditkumad) with the XVII / Cenderawasih Kodam team.

They examined 11 members of the Indonesian Army and 1 civilian. Dodik also said that investigators were still finalizing the results of their investigations.

"Currently the Joint Team and Kodam XVII / cenderawasih are completing the case files and if they meet the formal and material requirements, they will immediately be delegated to the Jayapura Military III-19 Oditur," said Dodik.
