Traffic At Several Airports Increases 16 Percent, People Are Already Afraid Of Traveling?

JAKARTA - Flight traffic at 15 airports managed by PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) or AP I in October 2020 grew quite significantly by 16 percent to 2.17 million passengers compared to September's 1.85 million passengers which was partly due to the joint holiday at the end of October .

Likewise, aircraft traffic also grew by double digits by 10.9 percent from 27,009 movements in September to 29,975 movements in October and cargo traffic grew slightly by 2.4 percent from 37,075,502 kg in September to 37,988,411 kg in October.

"The increase in passenger traffic in October shows the level of public confidence in air travel is getting better," said PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) President Director Faik Fahmi, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, November 3.

The increase in traffic was also driven by a stimulus for aircraft passenger service or passenger service charges implemented by the Government starting last October 23 and coinciding with the moment of a long leave with the Prophet's birthday.

The highest passenger traffic in October 2020 occurred at Sultan Hasanuddin Makassar Airport with a traffic of 543,534 passengers, followed by Juanda Airport in Surabaya with a traffic of 439,478 passengers, and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali Airport with a traffic of 231,207 passengers.

Meanwhile, the total passenger traffic at 15 Angkasa Pura I airports in the January-October 2020 period is 26,728,218 passengers with traffic predictions until the end of the year reaching around 29 million or 30 million passengers.

Faik said, during the long leave with the Prophet's birthday on October 28-November 1, 2020, it was the main factor driving traffic growth in October and early November.

"In this period, passenger traffic reached 453,556 passengers, growing 17.9 percent compared to the previous week period (October 21-25) which only amounted to 384,535 passengers," he said.

The peak of the long holiday homecoming occurred on October 28 with traffic at 15 Angkasa Pura I airports reaching 103,506 passengers and the peak of backflow occurring on November 1 with traffic reaching 109,725 passengers.

Also Yogyakarta Adisutjipto Airport, Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulon Progo, Surakarta Adi Soemarmo Airport, Lombok Praya International Airport, Ambon Pattimura Airport, El Tari Kupang Airport, and Jayapura Sentani Airport.
