JAKARTA - The state-owned construction company, PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) continues to implement the latest standards in the country's construction industry. Starting from being a pioneer in obtaining ISO 9001 certification, PTPP then continued its leadership by initiating green movement in the Indonesian construction industry by implementing green constructions.

In this digital era, PTPP seeks to start a digitalization awareness movement as a new joint and way of working in the construction world in Indonesia by showing its leadership in the technology sector.

PTPP became the first construction company in Indonesia to implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) since 2015 and implemented SAP-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) in 2016.

BIM is a set of technologies, processes, policies that all processes work collaboratively and are integrated in a digital model. The use of BIM technology enables actors involved in a project to work collaboratively, optimizing HR productivity and project activities quickly, precisely, accurately, effectively and efficiently during the building lifecycle process.

"So, the implementation of BIM will create very significant efficiency in terms of costs and project implementation time, because the design data (pre-construction) is very detailed and accurate," said PTPP Corporate Secretary, Yuyus Juarsa in a statement received, Saturday 31 October.

Currently, the business world is experiencing an era of disruption where startup companies can overthrow long-established companies. The era of disruption was driven by the development of the digital world in which the construction sector is one of the sectors that will be affected by this digital transformation.

However, digital adoption in the construction sector is much slower than in other sectors. Cost efficiency, productivity, quality improvement and time accuracy have always been challenges from year to year in the construction sector.

PTPP as one of the leading construction and investment companies in Indonesia always conducts studies and research to overcome all existing challenges.

"The company considers the need to hold a transformation towards an era of digital construction as has been implemented by several developed countries, one of which is the implementation of BIM technology," Yuyus explained.

He revealed, PTPP has implemented BIM Level 2 technology in accordance with ISO: 19650 standards, where the company is currently conducting a full audit and certification process by Lloyd International which is targeted to be completed in December.
