Current Condition Of Hamzah Haz, Still Being Treated At RSPAD

JAKARTA - The 9th Vice President (Wapres) of the Republic of Indonesia Hamzah Haz is being treated at the Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) due to organ dysfunction. Hamza Haz is currently under medical treatment.

Secretary General of the United Development Party (PPP) Arsul Sani, said Hamzah Haz is still under treatment

"I have told you that until now it is not true that Pak Hamzah Haz has died, until now I have spoken," said Arsul to V OI , Jakarta, Monday, October 19.

He also asked all parties to pray for Hamzah Haz, who was a companion to the Indonesian Fifth President, Megawati Sukarnoputri, so that she can quickly recover from the illness she is currently suffering from.

Meanwhile, Hamzah Haz was born in Ketapang, West Kalimantan, February 15, 1940, or 80 years ago. He served as Vice President in the 2001-2004 period.

Before serving as Vice President, Hamzah Haz was the Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare and Poverty Alleviation in the Cabinet of the Fourth President of the Republic of Indonesia KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur).

On Thursday, 26 July 2001, Hamzah was elected as the 9th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, after winning the vice presidential election battle in parliament ahead of Golkar Party Chairman Akbar Tanjung and a number of other names.

Hamzah Haz is also known as the fourth general chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) DPP which led from 1998 to 2007. He was replaced by Suryadharma Ali in February 2007.

During the leadership of Hamzah Haz, PPP reached a golden age with the success of winning the third most seats in the DPR in the 1999 and 2004 elections after Golkar and PDI Perjuangan.
