JAKARTA - The occupancy rate of hotels in Bogor City last week, from September 21 to September 27, averaged around 41 percent. Although not optimal, but it is much better and above the average occupancy rate of hotels in West Java, which is around 28 percent.

Chairman of the Indonesia Hotel General Manager Association (IHGMA) Bogor Raya Chapter Eka Gartika said the hotel occupancy rate this week was much better than the hotel occupancy rate at the beginning of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, namely in March and April which fell far below 10. percent.

Eka Gartika explained, the hotel occupancy rate in Bogor City last August was actually better than today, reaching 51 percent.

This condition occurred after the Bogor City Government implemented large-scale social restrictions for the pre-adaptation of new habits (PSBB Pre-AKB) starting in early August, which made concessions to the business sector that was not exempted, including hotels.

"However, with the information that Bogor City was back in the red zone in early September, the hotel occupancy rate has decreased again," he said as quoted by Antara, Monday, September 28.

The General Manager of Hotel Asana stated, there were a number of guests who had booked to stay and made activities at hotels in Bogor City, then canceled them.

"However, next week, information circulated that the status of the city of Bogor had again dropped to an orange zone, so that the hotel occupancy rate also increased again," he also said.

Eka Gartika appealed to the Bogor City Government through the Culture and Tourism Office to communicate and coordinate before conveying information to the public.

According to Eka, in the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the health sector and the economic sector are equally important to be protected, so that residents of Bogor City can be saved from COVID-19 and the economic sector can also be saved to keep growing.

Head of the Bogor City Culture and Tourism Office Atep Budiman said, in the current COVID-19 pandemic all parties feel the impact, the Government is also feeling the impact.

"A lot of development budget has been diverted for handling COVID-19, so that this year's development is delayed," he said.

Atep emphasized that the Bogor City Government gave the same priority to protecting citizens from COVID-19 and the economic sector was still running, but there were health protocol rules that had to be obeyed.
