KPK Will Find New Spokesperson To Replace Febri Diansyah

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is rumored to be looking for a number of new retainer to fill the six vacant positions within the institution, including the position of KPK spokesman, which is now occupied by Febri Diansyah.

"Up to now, there are six KPK structures with no definitive official, including the spokesperson for the time being. In fact, there is no specific spokesman," said KPK Deputy Chairman Nurul Ghufron when contacted by journalists, Monday, December 23.

So far, the public is aware that Febri is the spokesman for the anti-graft agency. However, Ghufron actually said that Febri was the Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) who also held concurrent positions due to the absence of a spokesman.

"So far, because there is no public relations bureau which is also a spokesman, in the future we will complete all structures," he said, adding that completing this organizational structure is considered to increase the pace of KPK work.

It is known, based on the Republic of Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission Regulation Number 3 of 2018 concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of the KPK, referred to in article 1 Paragraph 7, the Head of the Bureau is an Echelon II level official who is appointed and dismissed by the leadership, in charge of Echelon III officials and employees in the bureau scope.

Febri was appointed spokesman for the KPK since December 2016. He replaces Johan Budi Sapto Pribowo, who is now a member of Commission I DPR RI from the PDI-P Faction.

Previously, in a special interview with VOI in November 2019, Febri did not mind if later he had to leave his job as a mouth for the anti-graft agency. In fact, he said there must be regeneration so that the KPK Spokesperson is not only attached to one figure.

"The KPK cannot depend on just one person. Therefore, there must be a time limit for a person to become KPK spokesman. It shouldn't be too long," said Febri in an interview at the KPK Library, Jalan Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, November 20.

He said that so far there are no definite rules regarding the rotation of the KPK spokesman. For example, Johan Budi. Prior to serving as Acting Chairman of the KPK, Johan held the position of mouthpiece for the anti-corruption agency for 9 years from 2006 to 2014.

Febri hasn't served that long, but according to him there needs to be regeneration or rotation. However, this rotation can be done if information management at the KPK runs well.

"So it doesn't have to be someone like Johan Budi or Febri Diansyah. No need. Forget the names, everyone who has competence can," he concluded.
