FESMI Inaugurates New Management For The 2023-2026 Period

JAKARTA - The Federation of Indonesian Musician Unions (FESMI) has inaugurated a new management for the period 2023-2026. Yovie Widianto was appointed as General Chair replacing Candra Darusman who has taken the lead since the founding of this organization in 2020.

Seeing the change in management for the second period, Candra Darusman expressed his optimism about the sustainability of FESMI to continue to fight for the rights of Indonesian musicians.

"I am very happy, because FESMI has shown a new generation group. In the past, 70 percent were the baby boomers generation, the remaining 30 percent were the millennial generation. Under Yovie, now 70 percent are the millennial generation, the remaining 30 percent are baby boomers," said Candra Darusman during the inauguration of the new management at the Indonesia Kaya Gallery, Central Jakarta, Thursday, November 16.

"FESMI's journey to fight for the rights of musicians is far from the target, But I believe with a more progressive generation, that target can be achieved. Under Yovie, I believe FESMI can be brought even further, and more than what has been done before," he continued.

After completing his duties as General Chair, Candra Darusman remains in the FESMI as the Board of Trustees.

Meanwhile, Yovie Widianto conveyed his invitation to musicians in various regions to form unions and join the FESMI.

Meanwhile, there are Indonesian Musician Unions (SMI) from several provinces that have joined. Yovie hopes that other musicians will participate, they don't have to associate based on territory, but also other things, such as community equality and the type of work in the field of music.

"Now we already have a big union, but we're going to try to make that bigger," said Yovie Widianto.
