The Panturas Shows Bloody Action Scenes In Jim Labrador's Clip Video

JAKARTA - Indie band surf rock, The Panturas released a music video for the song Jim Labrador which aired through their YouTube channel from midnight Friday, featuring actors ranging from Bio One, Mea Shahira, to Ravi Septrian.

Jim Labrador is the song included in the second studio album The Panturas Ombak Banyu Asmara which was released in 2021. The lyrics of this song depict the character of a fictitious thug named Jim Labrador.

Director Dwi Agung Pambudi said the story presented in Jim Labrador's music video departed from the background origin of the character he was trying to explore. Before working on the music video, Dwi even wrote a screenplay first.

"Indeed, this was actually Jim Labrador before becoming 'Jim Labrador'. That's why I wrote his name (first name) Nurodji," Dwi said during a press conference in Jakarta, Thursday, quoted by Antara.

"Where is the background of Jim Labrador, why did he become a Jim Labrador, why did he become the figure of Jim Labrador who was in his loud, very thugs," he added.

Meanwhile, bassist Bagus Patria or familiarly called Bagus Gogon ensured that Jim Labrador's character was a purely fictitious character. Through this character, The Panturas only tries to describe the life of a thug in Jakarta.

"Many think who Jim Labrador is, where are the thugs from. I'm just describing Jim Labrador as a thug who might be really Jakarta, yes," he said.

Jim Labrador's music video features scenes of bloody action played by Bio One and Ravi Septrian, with visuals in the style of the mid-1970s action film. For Dwi, this is his first experience working on an action genre music video.

"They (the cast) are very characteric, even the fighting looks natural in my eyes. And the first time I've also made the action really choreography," said Dwi.

Producer Eliza Cheisa also admits that the action genre is a challenge in the production of the music video "Jim Labrador". According to her, the manufacturing process is more difficult than other projects that have been worked on.

"Starting from the preparation of the choreography action scenes, then considering the required production time, and the safety of each player. All this new process makes production more fun for everyone," he said.

Previously, The Panturas had also released a video with a similar concept through the short film the song "All I Want" which involved well-known actors such as Prisia Nasution, Dimas Danang, and Tio Pakusadewo.

Membering Abyan Zaki Nabilio (vocals/guitar), Rizal Taufik (guitar), Bagus Gogon (bas), and Surya Fikri Asshidiq (drums), the band debuted with the mini album (EP) "Mabuk Laut" (2018). After releasing the album, their popularity increased significantly.

The second studio album "Ombak Banyu Asmara" (2021) contains songs that show the maturity of The Panturas musicality. Apart from "Jim Labrador", the songs that became hits included "Mistik Interpretation", "All I Want", and "Balada Semburan Naga".
