Honda Plans To Launch Big Electric Motorcycles In 2025

JAKARTA - In an interview with Young Machine, Japanese media at the end of April, Honda Motor Co. Senior Director and Manager Shinji Aoyama said Honda is currently developing a large-powered electric motorcycle.

In the media Young Machine Aoyama provides insight into Honda's electrification thinking for the future. Among the most interesting things he mentions is the fact that Honda is designing electric motorcycles with machines equivalent to 500cc to 750cc engines.

"Maybe in 2025," said Aoyama in response to the release time, reported by the Hindustan Times, Saturday, April 29.

As is known, Honda is quite consistent in running the global carbon neutrality program. Honda is one of the many manufacturers that took the initiative to produce electric two-wheeled vehicles, such as skutik, electric moped, and its first electric motorcycle.

But it is also known that producing a large-powered electric motor (Moge) is not an easy challenge. Even in March 2023, the CEO of KTM, Stefan Pierer, described the idea of working on a high-powered electric motorcycle as nonsense in an interview with Motorrad, quoted from Rideapart, April 28.

The CEO of KTM even emphasized that synthetic fuel or efuel can be a future solution for moge.

Well, it's quite interesting to wait for Honda's strategy going forward when launching this medium-performance electric motor, because it will be impossible for competitors to imitate this step.
