One Of His Staff Resigns, GM Nominates Former Military Officer To Occupy Director

JAKARTA - General Motors (GM) announced that it has nominated the former Deputy Chief of Operations of the US Navy, Admiral Jan Tighe for the position of Board of Director.

Jan Tighe has spent more than 34 years with the US Navy and the National Security Agency as a cryptolog career before retiring in 2018. He also served as deputy director of operations at US Cyber Command and president of the Postgraduate Navy School.

She was the first woman to lead a fleet and division of cryptology warfare in the US Navy. Tighe was asked by GM to run for the top ranks at the GM 20 June 20, 2023 annual shareholder meeting.

Tighe is also listed as sitting on Goldman Sachs Group Inc's board of directors, Huntsman Corporation and IronNet Inc, as well as The Progressive Corporation, although he will retire from the Progressive board at the 2023 annual meeting.

"The future of GM will be driven by a software-first approach that allows a faster cycle of innovation, improved experience for our customers, and more efficient companies," said GM CEO Mary Barra from her official statement.

Tighe said he was honored and excited to enter the highest ranks of Genera Motors. What's more, he has a qualified experience in serving as the board of directors.

"I am very excited to join the GM board at this important time," said Tighe.

Deputy Admiral Tighe's broad expertise in cybersecurity and information systems will be invaluable as GM improves EVs, AVs, and software-determined vehicles to realize our vision of a world without accidents, zero emissions, and zero congestion. He was nominated following Carol Stephenson's resignation.
