Series And Film Production Series Is Affected By The Strike Of WGA Writers

JAKARTA - The writer's strike from various production houses resulted in a delay in the release of series and film production. The strike, which took place on May 2, was initiated by the authors' union, the Writers Guild of America (WGA).

This incident has been carried out in Hollywood and New York. With so many writers following the strike, it indicates that a lot of production has been hampered. This incident also took place 15 years ago.

This strike was carried out as a form of WGA's demands against the company and the production studio where they work. They ask for a decent wage to work development.

Talk shows like Late Night Shows decided to take a hiatus like the Jimmy Kimmel Live of ABC, The Late Show from CBS, Tonight and Late Night from NBC. The Daily Show from the Comedy Central television channel is also on hiatus for an undetermined time.

In terms of writing, the Abbott Elementary, Andor, Big Mouth, Cobra Kai, Saturday Night Live, and Yellowjackets series are questioned. All of these titles are in the process of writing for the following season but have stalled due to this strike.

We are an event that writes at a time when (the event) is airing. If this strike lasts for several periods, our show will not release on time and the number of episodes can be changed and I believe this is what upsets the public," said Brittani Nichols, co-author of the show citing Variety.

"I am discontinuing all articles related to ANDOR as of May 1," said Tony Gilroy, showrunner of the Andor series. Meanwhile, the production of Andor season two is underway in England.

Ashley totaled as the author of the Yellowjackets series explaining they stopped the writing process after the strike. "I'm excited to come back after the WGA got a fair deal," he said.

On the other hand, some serial production hasn't started yet even though they're scheduling production this year. Production of the sixth season of Cobra Kai series that was supposed to run this year hasn't started after the strike.

The Anne Rice series and the spin-off Walking Dead also stopped even though they had finished the script for the series.

Marvel has also stopped the pre-production process for the Blade series starring Mahersala Ali. Likewise with Stranger Things which did not start production for its latest season as announced by the duffer brothers creators.

Outside of production, actress Drew Barrymore withdrew from her position as the 2023 MTV Movie Awards presenter which was held some time ago.
