JAKARTA - The Jatinegara Subdistrict Satpol PP calls dozens of ornamental fish street vendors (PKL) who open stalls on the sidewalk of Jalan Matraman Raya, Balimester, East Jakarta, as regional icons.

"Street vendors in this area are one of the icons in East Jakarta," said Head of Jatinegara Subdistrict PP Head of Satpol Sadikin as quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 12.

Based on these considerations, dozens of joint officers organized street vendors for ornamental fish and pets on Jalan Matraman Raya, Balimester, Jatinegara.

Each merchant's stall is limited to a size of 1x1.5 meter and will be uniformed using a box umbrella.

They are not allowed to put up tents at the selling location and the stalls cannot be more than 1.5 meters high.

For those who sell in front of the shop, there must also be a minimum access distance of 1.5 meters to the shop.

"Later they can sell but they cannot cross the yellow tile limit on the sidewalk," he said.

This arrangement involves elements of the community, RT / RW management because the traders are managed by the residents.

Sadikin said that there were 50 joint personnel from Satpol PP, sub-district / sub-district, Transportation Sub-dept. And TNI / Polri who organized street vendors selling on the sidewalk.

The current condition of the COVID-19 pandemic, people also really need materials for their daily needs. So that in the end the street vendors were given leeway in selling but had to follow the existing regulations.

"They sell ornamental fish and various types of pets. Like birds, cats, rabbits, monkeys and so on. However, if they violate the provisions, they will be put in order, "he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of RW 06 Balimester, Mulyono added that the initial data collection results of the number of ornamental fish street vendors in his area were as many as 60 traders, starting from the side of the Jatinegara City Plaza gate to access to Jalan Kemuning.

"Today is a trial first to restrict trade between traders. The point is they are not selling the yellow line of the sidewalk. If it violates, the result of the mutual agreement, their merchandise will be disciplined, "he said.
