The Start Of The Long Holiday, 147 Thousand Vehicles Leave Jakarta

JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga recorded 147 thousand vehicles moving out of Jakarta at the start of the long holiday, Tuesday, October 27 evening.

This figure is the cumulative traffic flow (traffic) from several Barrier / Main Toll Gates (GT), namely Cikupa GT (West direction), Ciawi GT (South direction), and Cikampek Utama GT and Kalihurip Utama GT (East direction).

"The total volume of traffic leaving Jakarta has increased by 26.4 percent compared to normal traffic," said Dwimawan in a written statement, Wednesday, October 28.

As for the distribution of traffic leaving Jakarta in three directions. The majority, as much as 49.48 percent to the East, as much as 28.38 percent towards the West, and 22.14 percent towards the South.

Dwimawan appealed to toll road users to be able to anticipate trips before entering the toll road.

"Make sure the vehicle and driver is in prime condition, adhere to health protocols while in the Rest Area, fill in sufficient fuel and electronic money balances, and comply with signs and directions from officers and rest if you are tired of driving," he said.

The police predict that the peak of the traffic flow during the long holiday of the Prophet's birthday will last for two days. The peak density began on the evening of Tuesday, October 27th.

Meanwhile, the peak traffic flow back to Jakarta is predicted to occur on Sunday afternoon until early Monday morning of December. Thus, a traffic scenario is enforced.

Previously, the police would implement a vehicle capacity limitation scheme in the rest area. The application of this scheme aims to anticipate the emergence of a new COVID-19 cluster.

"We have coordinated with the rest area because there is a provision for a rest area of only 50 percent," said Director of the Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo.

Three rest areas are recorded in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya where the scheme will be implemented. In practice, officers will close the rest area if it meets capacity.

"If there is a density, it could also be the rest area in Polda Metro Jaya, namely in the rest area of kilometers 19, 39, and 33. We will carry out opening and closing," he said.
