Looking Forward To The Return Of Anti-racism Athlete Colin Kaepernick To The NFL
JAKARTA - Do you still remember Colin Kaepernick, who was sentenced for kneeling when the song The Star-Spangled Banner played before the NFL american football game? The quarterback will undergo training with the LA Chargers team.
Launching MARCA, Friday, June 19, Kapernick will train with the club previously known as the San Diego Chargers this summer.
The former San Francisco 49ers midfielder has not played in the NFL since 2016 when he knelt in protest against police brutality and racial inequality. However, Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn plans to consider him in the team.
"I haven't spoken to Colin, so I'm not sure where he has gone as far as in his career or what he wants to do," Lynn told ESPN.
"But Colin definitely fits the quarterback style for the system we're running.
"I am very confident and happy with the three quarterbacks I have, but you can never have too many people waiting their turn."
Looked back a little. Colin Kaepernick started a protest over police brutality four years ago. At that time, he was just sitting on the bench when the United States national anthem played. Before long, he knelt down and said that he did it out of respect for military veterans.
Several other players then joined the action even though they received a lot of criticism from American football fans because they were considered not reflecting respect.
The issue of police brutality is something that is widely discussed in everyday life in the United States. This is the aftermath of many video footage showing police shooting and killing unarmed blacks.
Now, the issue of racism has returned to the scene after George Floyd was killed by an unscrupulous police action last month. A number of soccer players bend their knees on the pitch following Kaepernick's iconic pose.
