Police Extend Case Record Of Wrong Arrest
JAKARTA - The police have extended the case of wrongful arrests. The biggest mistake of the police is making the confession of the accused the main factor in investigating cases.
Today, the social media scene is shocked by the circulation of video footage showing the arrest of a man in front of a grocery store. The video was discussed because of a narrative stating that the man was a victim of a wrongful arrest in a drug case. The video also says that the police deliberately trapped the man. Because, it is said that the buser members deliberately slipped drugs in the pack of the man's cigarette. In addition, the video uploaded by the Facebook social media account, Munx Guevara, also showed a scene where a police officer pointed a firearm. He said that the incident took place in the Tegal Alur area, Kalideres, West Jakarta. As confirmed about the incident, the Kalideres Police Chief AKP Indra Maulana confirmed the matter of the arrest. However, the action against the man who later identified himself as Ade Gunawan was not carried out by members of the Cengkareng Police. However, Maulana was reluctant to comment much on the arrest because it was not his capacity. "That (Penindakan) is not a member of ours. A member of the Cengkareng Police. Only the crime scene is in our place," he said. Meanwhile, the same thing was confirmed, the Cengkareng Police Chief, Commissioner H. Khoiri, confirmed that it was his members who made the arrest. However, he denied the truth of the narrative stating that the action was a trap. He said that Ade's arrest was based on suspicion of narcotics transactions. Because previously there was information about narcotics transactions and also found crystal methamphetamine not far from the location. In fact, it is said that currently Ade has been returned to his parents because it is not proven to have or be involved in the narcotics network. "But Ade is not proven, that's why we let go," he said. On the same occasion, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cengkareng Police, AKP Antonius added that Ade's arrest was an attempt to reveal the prison network's drugs. Previously, two people, P (35) and UJ (27) were arrested with three packages of crystal methamphetamine. "So after we developed it, we found another transaction plan. At that time the members secured Ade because he was not far from the discovery of drugs," he said.

According to KontraS 'records, there were 51 cases of wrongful arrests from July 2018 to June 2019. "Some were obtained from media monitoring and some were assisted by us," said the Head of the Contrast Human Rights Defense Division Arif Nur Fikri, written by Kompas.
According to Arif, the police habit of focusing on confessing the accused is the cause of the many cases of wrongful arrests. This habit actually violates the Law (UU).
Article 184 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code states that a confession should be the investigator's final consideration in determining a suspect. Not made the main factor.
"When the confession of the suspected suspect has been obtained, the investigators will only have to compile the evidence. Whereas in the Criminal Procedure Code, the confession of the suspected suspect is in the last position ... Facts in the field, we find many cases that are suspected of being mistakenly arrested. starting from the confession of the suspect, "said Arif.
