Marijuana Company Mike Tyson Ready To Buy Camp Nou Naming Rights

JAKARTA - Mike Tyson's company SwissX is interested in an ambitious project to secure the naming rights for Camp Nou, Barcelona's proud stadium.

The Catalan club confirmed last week they would allow a number of companies to buy the naming rights of their iconic stadium. The money from the sale of this name will be donated to the fight against COVID-19.

Tyson's business partner, Alki David, said in an interview with BBC Sport on Sunday, April 26, that their company, which sells cannabis-based medicinal products, was considering the offer.

"It's a great stadium, and this is something we've seen and it seems like an incredible idea," said David, quoted from Football Espana.

"My company is a cannabis company, and Spain has a long history in the European Union of being a leader on the road to legalization."

David also hinted his company could see an opportunity to sell their goods if their bid was successful.

Los Blaugrana will ask their in-house charity, The Barca Foundation, to play a key role in the decision-making process in the coming months.

Opened in 1957, the stadium has never had a name other than Camp Nou. Barcelona rejected previous attempts to buy the naming rights.
