Lamborghini Delays Its First Electric Car Until 2029, This Is The Cause

JAKARTA - The latest news comes from Lamborghini about planning at its electrification market. The manufacturer with the hoteng campaign' logo announced delaying launching its first electric car until 2029.

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said this step was taken because he saw the sport car market currently not ready to move to full electrification. Previously, the Italian manufacturer announced it would launch its first EV in 2028.

"We think this is the right way to deal with the future," Winkelmann was quoted as saying by Reuters on Tuesday, December 17.

Thus, Lamborghini insists it is not in a hurry to push for future electrification. In addition, the brand is also awaiting clearer regulatory prospects in the European Union due to a review of the bloc's ban on the sale of new internal combustion engine cars starting in 2035 currently scheduled for 2026.

"There's discussions about synthetic fuel and this is an opportunity for a car like Lamborghini," Lamborghini added.

Last year, Lamborghini introduced a concept of Lanzador which was the forerunner of its first electric car in the global market.

The lanzador is introduced to the GT 2+2 car seating which has a high ground clearance, presenting sporty driving and very fun when driving.

This car will be equipped with a double electric motor on each double to ensure electric drive can work optimally in all conditions.

The lanzador comes with the driving of all wheels (AWD) and offers an active e-torque vector on the back axis in order to produce dynamic and smooth driving.

Before turning to full electrification, Lamborghini also introduced plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models in the past year such as Manage SE, Temerario, and Revuelto.
